A momentus month at Bowmore

Well September really has been a month like no other for Bowmore.

Of course the news of the 1957 release has hit the headlines and this truely will be a unique release. It is the oldest ever released Bowmore, the oldest whisky from Islay and one of the oldest whiskies ever released so it is quite incredible. Beyond most of us indeed but these releases are important in terms of Bomwore's history and inventory. This whisky will be auction in Edinburgh and New York with all proceeds going to charity with only 8 bottles available for purchase! Will I get the chance to sample it like I did with the sublime 1964 Fino.........I think not!

Also this month, we won three big awards from Whisky Magazine in the Icons of Whisky Awards (Scotland)

Icons of Whisky Scotland 2013

Eddie MacAffer won Distillery Manager of the Year which I think is so deserved after over 40 years at Bowmore and also congratulations to John McLellan who he shared the award with.

Iain McCallum our Malt Master won Brand Ambassador of the Year which is a fantastic award for Iain. He has so much experience in the whole of the company from production through to blending and he loves conveying that to audiences around the world. Well done Sir!

The Distiller of the Year Award also came our way at Morrison Bowmore Distillers and is in recognition of the quality single malt whiskies we are producing. We solely produce single malt as a company and focussing on only this gives us the consistency to bring you the quality drams we are producing at Bowmore and also at our sister distilleries of Auchentoshan and Glen Garioch.

It has been quite a month so lets see what October brings which I can tell you already is the new Tempest Batch 4, numerous shows around the world and the auction of bottle 1 and 2 of the 1957 release...phew!
