Bowmore and Mountain Guides
Bowmore is proud to be sponsoring this year’s meeting of the International Federation of Mountain Guides Associations hosted by the British Mountain Guides. Over the next week we’ll be bringing you news and articles as the mountain guides scale Britain’s highest mountain and challenge themselves at the International Mountain Guide Climbing Championship in Ratho, just outside of Edinburgh.
Mountain guides are the world leading experts in the mountains. With a history almost as long as Bowmore’s - the first guiding association was established in Chamonix France in 1821 – today’s mountain guides continue to explore the great mountain ranges and landscapes of the world.
Mountain Guides come in many shapes and sizes – and like Bowmore the one thing they have in common is their passion for the outdoors. Wherever they live and work, they will have a mass of experience, from rock climbing to Scottish winter, mountaineering and skiing all over the Alps, and experience of difficult climbs and remote mountains in other ranges around the world.
We’ll be bring you live updates as the teams scale Ben Nevis on Tuesday, and finish the week at the International Climbing Arena in Ratho on Friday.
