Whisky Live Taipei
Well that was that. Whisky Live Taipei roared into life at 1pm on Saturday 31st August. It was loud, brash and superbly Taiwanese. 2 days of sampling, masterclasses and chatting with such eager consumers….I loved it!
Taiwan is a hugely important market for Bowmore but of course the wider whisky market. It is the 4th largest market in the world now for single malt and one with still great potential to grow. The audience at Whisky Live was young, with I would say over 40% female, a refreshing first for me at Whisky shows worldwide and I have been to a few!
We had a stand along with Auchentoshan and Glen Garioch and it was great to see the consumers moving through all of our whiskies and appreciating the differences between the three. From a Bowmore perspective, we had a superb show. We had the 23yo Port Matured 1989 in the seminars and the feedback was better than could have be expected. Fully matured in Port is very rare but the flavour profile of the signature fruitiness interwoven with spicy notes and the sea salt and smoke of Bowmore created a stir amongst the crowd as did the other exceptional new release to be seen soon...........
Wandering around the show you realised how passionate this country has become for Whisky and all things whisky. Martine Nouet was on hand to talk whisky and food and impart her huge knowledge on the subject. The fact that she then found the Vanilla Ice cream infused with Bowmore 12yo such a hit (as did the 2,000 consumers who stood in line wanting one) was great news and was certainly the talk of the show.
All in all Whisky Live Taipei was vibrant, alive and refreshing unlike some Whisky shows. Too flashy… maybe but a great fun time was had by all. I understand this is the last of the current edition of Whisky Live so congratulations to Steve Notman for putting on such a great platform to highlight Bowmore.
