For over 240 years, Bowmore has been capturing the essence of Islay, steeped in history, myth and legend.
In October 2021 Bowmore launched its first collaboration with acclaimed graphic artist Frank Quitely, through a limited series of single malts. The first story in the series, No Corners to Hide, told the story of sighting of the devil. The second story, The Changeling, details the legend of the Blacksmith’s son. The third release is Lovers Transformed, a forbidden love story of the daughter of a Pictish King who fell in love with a captured Celtic warrior.

Beginning its first twenty years in cask, the spirit was nurtured by American Oak hogsheads, creating the signature style of Bowmore. Much like the lovers in this story, the whisky underwent its own transformation as three years of further maturation in a pair of heady cask styles: Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso Sherry, adding depth with rich and luscious fruit notes.

Capturing the prominence of the sea in this curious tale, a gentle sweetness is contrasted with a distinctively fresh aroma of Atlantic Ocean sea salt. Much like the intrigue of our story, this then seems to dissipate to reveal a richer symphony of notes combining toffee, salted caramel, tanned leather with a fruity and floral flair. Just as opposites attract with our lovers, a rich sweetness juxtaposes with peaty flavours. Maple syrup and demerara sugar blend seamlessly with cocoa beans, dark chocolate and liquorice root.
