Bowmore Whisky Tasting Bar
Open Monday to Saturday from 11 am to 4.30 pm, the Bowmore Whisky Bar invites you to relax and enjoy a unique tasting experience with views across Loch Indaal. Please choose from our carefully curated whisky tasting menu and discover some of Bowmore’s rarest and exclusive single malts.
Expressive, captivating and cosy – our bar is the perfect place to savour distillery exclusives and old favourites alike. No booking required, we look forward to welcoming you. For large groups, we recommend contacting us in advance, as seating is limited.
Upcoming Closures
Our distillery and visitor centre will be closed for the festive season from the 23rd of December and will reopen on the 5th of January.
Production Schedule
Our distillery operates in defined production cycles and is not in production every day of the year. Like many Scotch whisky distilleries, we pause at certain times to carry out essential maintenance and improvements. During these periods, visitor experiences may be adjusted accordingly.
We recommend contacting us in advance of your visit to confirm whether production will be underway; however, as an active production site, unplanned shutdowns may also occur without notice. Whether the stills are running or resting, our doors are open to share stories, flavours, and experiences you’ll never forget.

Responsible Enjoyment
Scotland enforces a strict zero-tolerance approach to drink driving. The only way to ensure you're within the legal limit is to completely avoid alcohol if you plan to drive.
If you are joining us for a whisky tasting experience, please ensure alternative travel arrangements are in place. Islay offers a reliable bus service which runs Monday to Saturday, and local taxi services are also available – see here for more information.
If you do need to drive, please let us know in advance - we’ll be happy to provide your whisky samples in small takeaway bottles for you to enjoy safely later. -
Accessibility Information
We aim to make every visit enjoyable and accessible. Please get in touch if you require any information about specific access needs or if you need advice on planning your visit and we will do our best to help. Please be aware that our visitor centre has stairs, and some of our production areas include uneven surfaces and steps. Contact us in advance, and we will be happy to assist and discuss potential accommodations.

Private Experiences
If you would like to arrange a bespoke experience, contact us and a member of our team will be in touch to help plan your visit.

Pet Information
Dogs are very welcome in our Visitor Centre, Shop, and Bar! However, for safety reasons, dogs are not allowed in our production areas or warehouses – except for guide dogs.

Experience Bookings
Due to the limited number of spaces available on our experiences, we would advise booking in advance – particularly for bigger groups. We will always try to accommodate guests who turn up on the day, but we cannot guarantee a place on any of our experiences. Don’t worry if you can’t find a booking, you can always relax at the Bowmore bar – the perfect spot to savour our whiskies. Choose from our extensive menu, settle in, and enjoy the views.
